Avoid this place at all costs. They completely screwed me over and the customer service is some of the worst I’ve ever dealt with. First off, it took me nearly 25 minutes on the phone just to book a simple ball machine session. The system they use is old and archaic and there were already a myriad of issues from the beginning. 3 different people I spoke with all told me different things. I’m a regular tennis player and I expected to get access to a full court with a ball machine on the other side like any other tennis facility sets up for you. The person I spoke to originally on the phone told me that’s what I would be getting. I was absolutely shocked to come in and get a dinky little QUARTER court as seen in the picture and no one gave me a heads up. It’s unacceptable for them to mislead people like this. I didn’t pay an exorbitant amount of money to play in a freaking shoe box. I knew from the minute I stepped onto the practice court that this was not the experience I signed up for. It felt like a batting range for baseball players. I specifically asked for a ball machine with a full court so I could see where my shots land on the other side. Those are the kind of ball machine experiences I had in the past, as well as any other regular tennis player. I did not want to hit against a wall.... The person I initially spoke to on the court told me I would be getting a full practice court and I did not get that. Paying $85+ for 30 minutes to hit against a wall is borderline unethical.

The followings are my real experience with the tennis couch Danny from Vanderbilt Tennis Club. We met him at a group class at Vanderbilt Tennis club and purchased a ten-session semi-private class package from Danny in August 2022, and my experience has been incredibly disheartening. We only managed to complete six classes in one and a half years due to his consistent inability to adhere to the scheduled classes. He frequently canceled sessions at the last minute or changed the class time with little notice. Communication regarding these changes was almost non-existent, leaving us in a constant state of uncertainty. Moreover, Danny used the excuse of the facility being crowded and cold during the winter months to postpone classes repeatedly from November to June. Despite our requests for him to keep us updated on when he could resume classes, he never took the initiative to contact us. Feeling frustrated and disappointed, we eventually ceased contacting him, unwilling to waste any more time on his unreliable services. However, last month, we randomly encountered him at a tennis court, where he promised to complete our remaining classes within two months. Skeptically, we scheduled the class for the last time, confirming five times in the ten-day waiting period that our class would not be canceled. Regrettably, it was canceled four hours before the class, with the coach suggesting we wait for a warmer time to resume classes. Frustrated beyond tolerance, we requested a refund, only to face resistance and baseless accusations from him. He accused us of being inactive in scheduling classes and claimed we lacked a flexible schedule, proposing class times as late as 11 pm on weekdays. This was clearly impractical and unrealistic for any tennis lesson. Furthermore, Danny suddenly claimed that our sessions had been expired for several months, something he had never communicated to us before. Despite numerous last-minute cancellations, he conveniently cited an expiration date as a reason to deny our refund request. This inconsistent and unprofessional behavior has left us with a profound sense of dissatisfaction and regret. We no longer expect a refund but feel compelled to share our genuine experience to caution others considering classes with Danny.

We met Danny Alonte during group classes at Vanderbilt Club and signed up for ten semi-private sessions with him, which marked the beginning of our nightmare. Here are our experiences with Danny: 1. We had a class scheduled at 7 pm at Vanderbilt Club. At 6:36, he informed us that he forgot about the class because he was at the airport picking up his dad. 2. On Monday evening at 5:19 pm, we asked him if the class was still on for that night. He said the ball machine was broken and rescheduled it for Wednesday. However, on Wednesday, he claimed he felt he had contracted COVID-19 from the high school girls he coaches and postponed it for another 20 days. 3. Twenty days later, when we asked if the class was back on for the next day, he thought it was the following week and said he still couldn't teach. 4. We arranged a class for 9 pm, but at 5 pm, he told us that the ball machine in upstairs would be under maintenance after 7 pm so he can’t teach. 5. When the class was scheduled for 8 pm, he informed us at 2:36 pm that the practice court was too busy and unavailable. 6. Around Thanksgiving, we scheduled a class for the next evening, but he said the court was full and asked us to schedule the class after holiday sessions instead. 7. Classes stopped from November until February. In February, when we asked if we could resume, he claimed it was too crowded and asked us to wait a bit longer. 8. From February until June, we made numerous attempts to schedule, finally settling on a Tuesday at 6 pm. Then, at 3:47 pm, he informed us that there was a leave from 5-7 pm for an MTA league, so he couldn't make it. 9. We only managed to attend six classes within a year and a half. 10. After June, we stopped trying to schedule with him because we couldn't tolerate his endless cancellations and lack of respect for our time. However, in January of this year, we coincidentally met him in Manhattan. He asked when we would take the remaining four classes, and we decided to give him another chance. He promised to complete them by April. 11. So in January of this year, we tried to schedule classes with him again. We scheduled a class for two weeks later, and I confirmed the time five times in between. He solemnly promised not to cancel, but four hours before the class, he told us the ball machine was malfunctioning again, and the class couldn't proceed. We simply cannot accept this level of unprofessionalism. When we asked for a refund for the remaining four sessions, he refused and shamelessly blamed us, claiming we weren't proactive enough in scheduling. Are we supposed to keep scheduling only to be let down continuously? He also claims that the sessions should have expired long ago, which is absurd. We were never informed of any expiration dates when we signed up, and it's certainly not our fault that we only managed to attend six sessions in a year and a half! We've never encountered such an unprofessional and disrespectful instructor who doesn't value others' time, not to mention the complete lack of progress under his guidance. We don't seek a refund now; we simply want to share our genuine experience to warn others. Updated on Feb 29: My Google review seems to have vanished, but I'm determined to emphasize that regardless of any removals, I stand by my right to share my honest encounter. Unfortunately, our experience with Danny at Vanderbilt Tennis Club was far less than satisfactory. Despite this, it's important to note that we met Danny at here, he taught us here, and he continues to serve as a coach at the club. I see no reason why my feedback shouldn't be visible under the club's listing.

The most convenient tennis court in NYC -- and you pay for it! Desperately needs a lighting upgrade - they are very flickery and inconsistent. An acoustic treatment would help too, it's impossible to hear anything especially when the ball machine is on upstairs.

I do not recommend this tennis club their whole operation is very unorganized, staff is unprofessional and unwelcoming. Club is underwhelming and one of their practice court machines does not work properly. If you’re on the fence of checking out Vanderbilt tennis club or another tennis club in the city go with your other option.
