My child went in eager to learn and seemed very much into it. After the 4th class her love for it died due to the amount of "homework" they give. She goes to a Montessori school and she was not used to having homework. My husband and I don't play chess so we couldn't help her with her homework so she felt very frustrated not knowing many of the assignments. Not even the Chess kid app helped. We are slowly reintroducing her to it at a much slower pace and zero homework..just good ole fun by going to the library chess meetings.
If your kid is more play based /hands on visual learner and isn't used to homework...this might not be the direction to go to.
The staff if great everyone was friendly.

As a new chess player I was initially nervous about going to a chess center but between the staff and the players I quickly found a home. No matter what level or age the player is everyone is highly encouraging; challenging each other to grow and learn through play, study and socializing.
i love having the opportunity to enjoy chess with the CCC family from anywhere in the Charlotte metro area and look forward to continuing my chess journey with them.
