We were very dissapointed in our chess club experience. No one ever called me back or answered my emails about anything EVER. I made several attempts to contact. There are no competitions. There is nothing achieved in this club. There is NO advance to anything. If you want to participate in one of their "competitions" you pay extra to attend! And the competitions are not played by rank of player or experience. You're child is just put with whoever also payed money to attend regardless of experience. Your child never moves up in any form. After School My child played chess for one hour with whoever and then was sent home. There was no certificate at the end of our 4.5 months, no extra learning about chess, just 5 emails of - pay another round of money for the 5 more months! At $250 for 5 months is a scam. Recreational soccer is cheaper by half and you get so much more! This is just a babysitting scheme covered up with a simple game of chess.

We have been lucky enough to visit both locations. My son loves to play the quads. We thoroughly enjoy the facilities and the staff goes above and beyond. I'm very happy Charlotte has this to offer.

great place for chess. i would say best chess center for all levels (barring the super GM scene) in US. Daniel , Grant , Peter, Dom and Jay have been very encouraging to my eldest child. CCC was the reason we moved from VA to NC

My child went in eager to learn and seemed very much into it. After the 4th class her love for it died due to the amount of "homework" they give. She goes to a Montessori school and she was not used to having homework. My husband and I don't play chess so we couldn't help her with her homework so she felt very frustrated not knowing many of the assignments. Not even the Chess kid app helped. We are slowly reintroducing her to it at a much slower pace and zero homework..just good ole fun by going to the library chess meetings. If your kid is more play based /hands on visual learner and isn't used to homework...this might not be the direction to go to. The staff if great everyone was friendly.

As a new chess player I was initially nervous about going to a chess center but between the staff and the players I quickly found a home. No matter what level or age the player is everyone is highly encouraging; challenging each other to grow and learn through play, study and socializing. i love having the opportunity to enjoy chess with the CCC family from anywhere in the Charlotte metro area and look forward to continuing my chess journey with them.
