My 9 year old son absolutely loves chess because of his experience learning and growing in the game at the CCC. He started six months ago by attending an unrated scholastic tournament and Ali did an incredible job putting all of the new kids at ease and running the tournament flawlessly. After that initial experience, my son won a chess membership and was encouraged to attend rated tournaments which he also really enjoyed. He began taking intermediate chess classes weekly, and Alex and Uthra were both fantastic instructors who motivated the kids to do weekly chess puzzles, play rated tournaments and notate their games. Uthra also reviews the games and plays speed chess with the kids at quads which is incredibly beneficial. My son now is learning from Dominique who is an excellent instructor, using humor and chess insight to encourage the kids to improve their chess tactics and strategies. The CCC offers so much with outstanding chess classes, frequent rated and unrated tournament options, and has even introduced a mom's specific monthly event that I've loved! The CCC has surpassed my expectations, and I'm thankful to have found this amazing resource for my son. He loves it and so do I! Highly recommend!

The team at the Charlotte Chess Center have created a great atmosphere to foster the enjoyment and growth of chess. The teachers, the staff, and the community there are very welcoming. They sponsor a healthy number of events throughout the week. Their education program is top-notch. Their presence at national scholastic chess tournaments -- and special events like the ChessKid tournament! -- gives them reach beyond North Carolina. My son has really enjoyed his time there both as a student and as a team player. My only "complaint" is that CCC has made my boy a stronger chess player than I am!

- Best third place to hang out and connect with other Chess players.
- The amount of tournaments and schedules offered stand out.
- Very inclusive place for players of all ages and levels.
- The lectures by Masters as well as 101 post game analysis with GMs and coaches are an added value.
- One also gets to interact with famous GMs and WGMs very often.

My 15 year old son takes chess class here and also plays tournaments here. He absolutely loves it! His instructors are very kind and knowledgeable. He often has an expert review his tournament matches afterwards to learn more tips and strategies. The assignments are very motivating for him. Each time he completes his homework of 100 online puzzles he gets a new little token. They do a great job at awarding achievements. There is a lot of detail involved in recording tournament scores and keeping track of enrollment, etc. it’s very impressive how easy it is to register and look up the leaderboard. Every time I’ve had a question, the staff is very prompt in responding to me. Sarah especially has answered the most of my questions. Highly recommend Charlotte Chess Center!
