Having played at the Austin Chess Club for over 10 years, I can definitely say that it's a very welcoming, positive environment for learning and encouraging others to play. All ages, skill levels, and backgrounds are welcome. They host a variety of USCF-rated tournaments with long games or short games, or you can just play unrated games for fun with or without a clock.

The Austin Chess Club has USCF rated tournaments on most Sundays. The players are friendly, and there are players of all levels and ages. There is also a casual area called a 'Skittles Room' for pick up games, analysis, and conversation. It is advised to bring your own chess board and clock.

Be sure to go to their website to find out where it is, otherwise very hard to find. Phone will not be picked up

Very nice and neat place to play chess. Especially very quiet. My kids enjoy going there. I certainly would recommend them.

Drew is a jerk. Don’t be the person who responds to email inquiries if you can’t muster any grace. How you treat people matters.
