If you ask my son, he will say that the Arlington Chess Club is the best club in the state, if not the whole country. I've done some research trying to find similar clubs for folks who live in more widespread parts of North Texas, and after doing so, I have to agree with him. There is not another club out there like the Arlington Chess Club. These talented chess players share their love of chess through many, many hours of community outreach, teaching, and by hosting scholastic tournaments. My son may be curious about Magnus Carlsen, but he idolizes the Arlington Chess Club players, and if he ever gets to win a game, well, that is a special kind of happy. As a mom, I couldn't be more grateful!

I've played in the monthly tournaments at the UTA site for a couple of years now and have enjoyed every one. They have excellent facilities (comfortable chairs, roomy tables, wood sets on the top boards), and are professionally run by a genial, knowledgeable staff. Their competitions are easily among the best to play in and I highly recommend them for any club player.

My favorite club in the DFW area. Nice playing venues on the UTA campus, and friendly tournament directors (Chris and Robert). Monthly tournaments pull several dozen people spread pretty evenly beginner through master, so do not be intimidated if this is your your first tournament!

The Arlington Chess Club hold tournaments every month.
1. They are professionally run.
2. The facility is fantastic.
3. The pieces on the top boards are nice wood pieces with wood boards.
Having run and played tournaments for over 20 years these tournaments are the best events in the DFW area.

I've been going to this club for a couple months now and they are great. The Sunday tournaments are some of my favorite as they are casual and quick. I definitely recommend this club.
