It was in the year 2017 that Cheever used to work as an ABC commentator for the IndyCar Series. Besides, some resources show that he was a commentator for the Indianapolis 500. He was a commentator along with Scot Goodyear who was a former Le Mans racing driver. And, he stood second in 1996 with Porsche 911 GT1.

One of the popular drivers during the eighties, Eddie Cheever had 143 racing under his sleeve. And, it was from 1978 to 1989. Also, he won the prestigious Indianapolis 500 in 1998. Apart from these achievements, Cheever has a special place in his heart for the 24 hours of Le Mans.

• 1981 – Took part in the racing with Lancia Beta Montecarlo along with Carlo Facetti and Michele Alboreto. He finished in the eighth position

• 1986 – Took part in the racing with Jaguar XJR6 along with Derek Warwick and Jean-Loius Schlesser. But has to retire because of some kind of suspension issue and a flat tire

• 1987 – Took part in the competition with Jaguar XJR8 along with Jan Lammers and Raul Boesel. He finished fifth in the race and it was the best record set by the veteran racing driver

The first experience was in the year 1981. It was a long-distance race and he was with Lancia Martini Racing. While he was excited to be at Le Mans, he was unhappy that he didn’t have a fast racing car.

During those days, there used to be three great races in the world: The Indianapolis 500, the Monaco Grand Prix, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. However, the next two seasons were good because he was driving Jaguar’s best sports cars.

However, the car encountered a problem in the car and it went flat in 1986. For the upcoming year, that is 1987, they assumed that the match was on their hands. But something in the gearbox broke within one hour of starting the match. Besides, losing the match bothered him in his career later.

Moreover, Cheever praises his former teammate at the Le Mans, Derek Warwick who was a winner in 1992 with Peugeot 905. What’s interesting is that both of them have many common things that they like. Also, he was Cheever’s teammate in Formula One.
