Teqball is a football-based sport. It was founded in 2014 in Budapest, Hungary, and spread throughout Europe. Now its popularity is growing rapidly throughout every continent. Currently, there are over 2,000 players in more than 100 countries and 110 international associations. In fact, teqball is so popular that there is interest in making it an Olympic sport by 2028.
The sport is played on a specially curved table, either by two or four people. There is a point scoring system in which points can be scored with any part of the body except the arms or hands. Both men and women can compete, as the sport relies more on skill than anything else and is a non-contact sport.

Does the US have a teqball team?
The United States does not have a national team, but there is a U.S. National Teqball Federation. Its purpose is to introduce the sport across the country, focusing on children in underserved communities to provide them with more sports opportunities. Currently, there are 60 officially registered clubs throughout the U.S.
ESPN has entered into an arrangement to televise some tournaments. Plans are to televise six highlight shows, with four being televised on ESPN2 and two on ESPNU. All 12 planned tour events through this year will be available for live streaming on ESPN3. The tour will culminate in the 2022 World Cup at the season’s end, with $30,000 as the top prize.
What ball is used for teqball?
Teqball uses soccer balls. The size five ball is the official size. The table looks much like a ping-pong table with a plastic rather than a net divider in the center. The table itself sloped downward at both ends, which helps the ball bounce to the players’ feet. The center divider causes the ball to bounce back to the player if the ball hasn’t been struck correctly.

Players who play full-time can earn as much as $100,000 per year as long as they are willing to travel. Prize pools continue to grow, with ESPN’s participation sure to generate more interest.

The tables can be purchased at Soccer.com with a starting price of $1199.99 for the portable version. They offer three types. There are other sources online, but not as many as there will be in the future as the sport catches on.
How do you serve in Teqball?
To serve, the player stands behind the table and kicks the ball so that it lands on the opponent’s side of the table. The server gets two attempts. If he fails at both, the point is forfeited. Anytime a player misses the table, the point is also lost. If the ball hits the edge of the table, the point is replayed.
A match is decided by the best of three sets. Each set is played until one player or team earns 12 points or 20 points in some areas. Points are earned by landing the ball on the opponent’s side without it being returned. The ball changes teams after every four points. Rules state that players may not touch or return the ball with the same body part twice in succession. When playing in teams teammates must pass the ball to the other teammate at least once. None of the players may touch the table.
