Baseball players in the MLB are away from home for long periods of time. They travel often and spend a lot of time on the road. This can be tough for them, but it’s also a huge part of their job. They have to be able to handle being away from home and still perform at a high level.

This includes Spring training, the regular season, and the postseason (if their team makes it that far). With all of the travel involved, it’s no wonder they’re always looking forward to playing in front of their home crowd!
Spring training
Spring training typically lasts about a month, during which players report to their team’s facilities to prepare for the upcoming season. They engage in daily practices and exhibition games against other professional teams.
The Spring Training schedule typically starts in late February and runs through early April.
During the season
Players are typically away from home for about six to seven months out of the year. They play approximately 162 games during this time, which includes road trips to other cities for away games. They also have to contend with travel delays and jet lag.
The MLB regular season is typically 176 days long, running from late March/early April to late September/early October. Each team plays 162 games during the regular season.
During the regular season, teams usually play about 20 games a month. That leaves them with about a week of free time each month, which they can use to travel home or take vacations.
Off-season
During the off-season, players are free to return home and spend time with their families. They may also take part in promotional activities or community service events. Some players may choose to train at their team’s facilities during this time as well.
If a team makes it to the postseason, they can expect to be away from home for an additional month or so. The MLB playoffs consist of three rounds: the Wild Card Game, the Division Series, and the Championship Series. The World Series is the final.
