U14 and U16 County Academies
Are you U14 or U16?
If so you can trial for the Satellite County Academies!!
The structure of netball has now changed to focus on club netball. The superleague was launched last year with Premier League 1 and 2 underneath. Herefordshire and Worcestershire have 3 clubs based in the West Midlands Regional League - Evesham Reds, Saracens and Westside.
The aim of scrapping County Competition and changing it to Club competition was to ultimately improve the standard of play by playing high quality games on a regular basis rather than once a month. It is also encouraging clubs to develop their junior sections. The Region has an U16 and an U14 league for the top 2 teams from each County League. Information on the County Academies:
There will be two U14 and 1 U.16 Academy each consisting of approximately 25
girls.
The U.14 Wyre Forest Academy will train fortnightly on Friday evenings from 5.30-
7pm at the Stourport Netball Dome with Becky Giles and Sarah Williams.
The U.14 Worcester Academy will train fortnightly on Friday evenings from 7-
8.30pm at Elgar Technology College with Debbie Kenney and Becky Atkins.
The U.16 Worcestershire Academy will train fortnightly on Thursday evenings from
8-9.30pm at Elgar Technology College with Karen Moore.
Players will be geographically placed into these academies, depending on where
they reside.
The content of the programme is based around the England Netball Performance
Standards and encompasses skill level, positional play, nutrition and fitness. At all
times the essence of the programme is quality, consistency and fun.
Further Information…
1. Players entering trials must be committed to training
2. They must realise that the academy training will be hard work so must be
prepared to train hard and regularly
3. They will be expected to attend every training session
4. Players have to cover the costs of training
5. Players must be affiliated to England Netball
Fees and Payments
Season fees for Satellite Academies will be:
£2.00 per training session paid in two instalments: Sept – Dec and Jan – April.
If not affiliated to a netball club £18.00 must be paid to WCNA. This will only be
required if players are selected for the academies.
